Fieldwork

I now did not blog for a while. One of the reasons I show here.
In the last few months, I have been on the road to install insect traps in field. I will now introduce you to my main work during that time.
First, the covers on the traps have to be contolled for holes and if they are usable once more. If not, they have to be changed

.

After that, the traps need to be covered also with a fence. This should help to save them against mice and other small mammals, which could bite holes into the covers. Trap and fence are screwed together on the trees.

The next step is to glue and screw the covers on the trees to close the traps completely.

At last, the fence must be fixed to the tree with the help of nails and the pots for cathing the insects have to be put on the trap.

The finished samplimg plot looks like this but has 12 or 13 trees
Issue of this kind of trap is to examine insect breeding in dead wood. Every year, the traps are at another position, so that the insects can put their eggs at the position where the trap will be the next year.
